Description
In this paper we try to seize Michael Chabon' novel The Amazing Adventure of Kavalier & Clay (original edition: 2000, Czech edition: 2009) not only as an emblematic postmodern text, but also as such a semiotically designed literary world, which can be characterized by the attribute deficient. In absolute centre of our interest is aside other important aspects of the reflected novel (erasing the borders between high and low, autothematism, multilayerity, eclecticism, intertextuality, metafictionality, metatextuality, "escapism" etc.) the position of mystification as a specific auctorial strategy in the construction of the reflected literary text as an postmodern (deficient) literary world.
