Sgrafitová výzdoba tzv. Malovaného domu na Náměstí v Mikulově : ikonografie s konfesionálním podtextem

This article is specifically devoted to the sgraffito on the 'Painted House' on the Square in Mikulov (no. 24). The focus is placed on aspects relating to heritage conservation and restoration, iconography in the socio-cultural and confessional context of the period (on a regional and European level). From an analysis of motifs in the sgraffito relating to feasts (or kermises) and the Bible it is possible to date the work to around the 1560s, when the town belonged to a Lutheran House of Kereczyn. It thus supports a comparison with related monuments in Lower Austria (the Grosses Sgraffitohaus and Kleines Sgraffitohaus in Krems, building no. 1 on Bahnstrasse in Langenlois). The sgraffito façades may thus hypothetically have been created in connection with being granted the right by Maximilian II to hold an annual fair.
