Abstract(s)
In the paper entitled Elizabeth and her countryside the author deals with new adaptations of Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice:Pride and Prejudice: A Latter- Day Comedy, 2003; Bride and Prejudice, 2004; Pride & Prejudice, 2005. In the films under discussion she identifies the specific relationship to the past and to what can be called "national heritage". All three films are characterized by nostalgic orientation to the past, respect to the basic motives of the original as well as very interesting forms of updating.
