Description
Agriculture and animal husbandry had been the most significant elements of production for many generations of agricultural communities living in the territory of the present-day Slovakia since the period of early feudalism until the 1950s. The article pays attention to the historical, ethnic, economic, and social contexts of this part of Slovak cultural heritage, not only regarding the territory of Slovakia, but also in the settings of Slovak minorities living in Central and Southern Europe. Ethnic minorities are important in the sense that they preserve and develop diverse cultural phenomena and values in specific ways that could differ from the situation in their motherland.
