Abstract(s)
During my studies of composition at the Janáček Academy and after my graduation in 1953, many teachers helped me intensify my knowledge especially in the field of musical thinking and its compositional implementation. I particularly appreciate the acquaintance with PhDr. Jiří Vysloužil, my older colleague, in 1953–63 lecturer at the Academy. The publications recommended by him), 2) broadened my global horizons and founded my admiration for Leoš Janáček's work and ideas. Our cooperation resulted in my participation in Vysloužil's pioneering lectures on Modern Music which were given from as early as the academic year 1957/58. I used this experience in my own lectures and workshops on Theory of Composition and, later, in postgraduate cycles Research Compositional Methods. I made two books ready for press: Modern Compositional Theories in West European Music 3) and Modern Compositional Trends in Music 4) and, finally, a treatise on my own method – Project Music Composition 5), 6) (PMC). -- There are approximately three principal types of compositional procedures: the intuitive (emotial-spontaneous) method, the logical (intellectual-rational) method, and the logical-intuitive method. The last one includes the PMC. This is a synthetic-analytic-synthetic method, proceeding from a project of the whole over its graphic elaboration in details (gestures) up to their synthetic implementation in musical material. Any kind of composition techniques, any stylistic principles and personal inclinations can be applied in this procedure. ... [Celé shrnutí v článku.]
