Description
The Slovak culture has been absorbing suggestions from Hungarian literature since its beginnings. However, in various periods the reception of the suggestions has taken its course in a different way and intensity. The contribution focuses on the reception of contemporary Hungarian literature in the Slovak culture from the 1990s to the present through Slovak translations of the Hungarian literary production. However, for the aspect of processing it has not chosen the literary-historical perspective, which could deal with comparison of the meaning of texts and authors in the original and the target culture, or the question of representativeness of the translated works from the viewpoint of the original literature; neither has it chosen the reception perspective, which could analyze aspects of the reception of individual texts or authors. The contribution is devoted to one of the components of the reception process: the activity of the personalities who carry out the translations. It will sum up translation activities from contemporary Hungarian literature of the following translators: Karol Wlachovský, Katarína Králová, Eva Kroupová, Juliana Szolnokiová, Renáta Deáková, Peter Macsovský, Peter Kováč, Jitka Roţňová, Gabriela Magová, Eva Andrejčáková.
