Город в романе Ф. Сологуба "Мелкий бес"

Автор изучает особенности литературного контакта с поэмой Гоголя «Мертвые души» в романе Ф. Сологуба «Мелкий бес». Рассматриваются важные параллели, которые проецируют роман Ф. Сологуба на поэму Гоголя. Особое внимание уделяется сопоставлению провинциального города в этих произведениях. Изучаются функции слухов и сплетен и их влияние на поведение персонажей романа, а также на развитие основных мотивов и сюжетной интриги. Сравниваются причины и формы бегства из города героев Гоголя и Ф. Сологуба.

The author studies the peculiarities of the literary contact with Gogol's poem "Dead Souls" in F. Sologub's novel "The Petty Devil". The important parallels which F. Sologub's novel project on Gogol's poem are considered. The particular attention is paid to the comparison of the provincial town in these works. There are studied the functions of rumours and gossips and their influence on the behaviour of the characters of the novel, as well as on the development of the main motives and plot intrigues are studied. The reasons and forms of flight from the city of Gogol' and F. Sologub's heroes are compared.
