Kořeny poznání – Antonín Václavík a luhačovické Zálesí

Antonín Václavík grew up in the village of Pozlovice near Luhačovice. There were numerous impetuses for his future studies of folk art: broad social background of a farmer's family, participation in local events, observances and ceremonies of local communities, studies at a high school in nearby Uherský Brod, fateful proximity of significant religious centres and strong responses to reform movements and journeys around Luhačovice on which he (accompanied by his older brother František) amassed items and material for his collections. The city of Luhačovice and its vicinity represent the roots from which the premises of Václavík's future ethnographic studies of vernacular visual arts and observances grew. He met significant personalities of the rural lifestyle and local spas which largely affected his future opinions and paths. The contribution attempts to monitor, from the positivist perspective, the author's wanders through the country where he grew up, as well as influences, knowledge and starting points through which the homeland affected Václavík's professional work.
