Abstrakt(y)
This text is a case study focused on the Swedish metal band Ghost, which excites controversies even today, especially in the USA, although it could seem that this kind of concern is rather part of a previous century. Actually, there is no wonder. The lead singer's character represents the anti-pope who is accompanied by Nameless Ghouls and sings for Satan's glory. A lot of rumours and legends circulate about the band, partly spread by fans, partly by the band itself. There is also a whole mythology created by the band which they present during their shows, interviews, and via their official websites or social media. Currently, they have been having great success and one of the most interesting things about them is what a huge and independent fan base the band has formed. In this study I will focus in detail on the way the band uses Satanism on the outside – in their work and image, and at the same time how the band perceives it on the inside – their own perspective and its possible spiritual layer.
