Abstract(s)
The presented essay is an attempt to grasp sociologically one particular project for revival of the social and cultural life in a small rural area of southern Bohemia. The article is an abstract from an extensive case study. The core of the study is empirical research concerning the opinions of local, socially active inhabitants on possible sources for the revival of that region and on its future. This problem is then set into a wider theoretical framework of community studies. The author compares sociological and ecological approaches to research in the topic under concern, she explores in concrete projects for the renewal of villages and local communities in this country as well as abroad.
