Abstract(s)
Turkic languages are the second largest language family in Europe after Indo-European languages. In the first part of the article some models of genetic and partly geographic classifications of Turkic languages are presented. The second part gives the tables of phonetic correspondences between 22 modern Turkic idioms, Old-Turkic and Middle Turkic language of the Karakhanids. In the third part we describe demographic development and geographic dispersion of all Turkic idioms according to their genetic relations. Synopsis of development of Turkic languages in main periods concludes the article.
